Royal Wedding Of Players To Teams…Will Someone In A Robe Read Picks?

I can only imagine Roger Goodell’s secretary buzzing through to his desk repeatedly this morning…”Roger, another owner on the line…wants to talk about the legal thing.” E-mail inbox full.  Cell phone melted.

Even I…knowing nothing about law…can tell this “legal thing” more and more favors the players now…except for the not-so-minor fact they actually aren’t getting back to work…yet.  A copy of the latest ruling from the current court is here.

I say current because this protracted argument is movin’ on up to Appeals.  Denial is not just a river in Egypt, it is the NFL.

USA Today reported Goodell assured those Draft prospects who have come to New York City for tonight’s event there will be football played this season.  He did not say if any of them would be playing alongside Keanu Reeves or not.  He also did not say if he would be greeting them alone at the podium…or possibly accompanied by someone in a robe.

We may not recognize who brings down the gavel to start this show.

  1. Dan Birdwell said, “You have to play this game like somebody just hit your mother with a two-by-four.” So I’m wondering, since when do judges use two-by-fours as a gavel?

What if the players left the NFL en masse, could they form their own league? Seems to me players can play without owners, but owners can’t play without players.

  2. Great quote, Sean. You would like the owners might at some point get the fans come for the players. Maybe they think they can develop 2,000 new ones right off the bat? Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Pammy Girl says:

Don’t tease me with terms like ‘royal wedding’ and then say NOTHING about the dress or the flowers, the millions of people, the carriage, the after party or even Beckham’s attendance!

  4. It lasts all weekend doesn’t it? All I know is the power of the free world has been transferred to Kate.
